Montana Dueling Dinosaurs
So a couple of guys into hunting old bones go out on a ranch in Montana to do that very thing. They end up finding what turns out to be highly significant in the universe of paleontology: a very intact pair of bones of two dinosaurs who look like they probably died while fighting each other.
“Buried side by side during the Late Cretaceous on a subtropical coastal plain in what is now Montana, the Dueling Dinosaurs are among the most complete skeletons ever discovered of the two most iconic dinosaurs — Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus rex — including what is thought to be the only 100% complete skeleton of a T. rex known anywhere in the world. The Dueling Dinosaurs have taken up permanent residence at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences and you can be there for every amazing discovery as their prehistoric secrets are unearthed and broadcast to the world.” Source: Dueling Dinosaurs
The pair are on/soon to be on display at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. The museum has a whole website (Dueling Dinosaurs) dedicated to their story starting from when they died up to their discovery in 2006. Very cool and worth a little time if you find dinosaurs interesting. The story of how they were found is interesting even if you’re not into dinosaurs. In fact, there was a little fighting between people after the bones were found to top it off.
